Undergraduate students are invited to submit an abstract for the seventh Annual Symposium on Undergraduate Research.

8:00am – 6:00pm
At
this one-day event, undergraduates will be given the opportunity
to present their research findings through poster and oral presentations. Presentations
will be judged and awarded based upon standards set by the
Undergraduate Research Committee.
Topics
will reflect the four Divisions of the College: Fine Arts,
Humanities, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences.
Interdisciplinary
projects are welcome and encouraged. |
Entrants
must be undergraduate students (freshmen, sophomores, juniors and
seniors) of Howard University who are endorsed
by a faculty mentor.
ATTENTION HONORS STUDENTS: All graduating Honors Program seniors are required to present their Honors Theses at the Symposium.
| Minimum Abstract Requirement |

The minimum number of approved abstracts from each division is 6. If there are less than 6 approved abstracts from any division, students' submissions from the division will be included in the submissions of a closely related division for the purpose of evaluation and award of prizes.
- Deadline
Abstracts must be submitted by Monday, February 20, 2012.
Late
submissions will not be accepted.
- Acceptances
Finalists with accepted Abstracts will be posted on this website: Sunday, March 18, 2012.
- Only submit your abstract. Do not submit complete research papers.
- Abstracts
must be submitted online at http://www.coassymposium.com
Email and paper submissions will not be accepted.
- Students
must receive endorsement of a Howard University faculty advisor,
research advisor, or program director before submission of an
abstract.
The Mentor Endorsement
Form must be submitted to the Office of the Dean, Suite 101, Locke Hall no later than 4.30pm, Monday, February 20, 2012. Students can type directly into the PDF form and then save and email the form to their mentors for completion. (Groups need only submit one form.) Keep a copy of the form for your records.
- Duplicate abstracts submitted by different authors will be automatically
rejected. However a collaborative effort among multiple authors
is acceptable when submitted as one project. *All authors must
be identified
at the time of the abstract submission.
*Authors participating in a collaborative effort must share any
monetary award received.
- Work
presented need not have been done at Howard University, but
if not, it must identify the site and
director of the
work as well
as the Howard University faculty member who
directed the project or research report, if any. Student must
have endorsement
of
site director as well as the Howard University
faculty member.
- Work
must be proofread prior to submission. The COAS Undergraduate
Research Committee will not edit abstracts.
