Registration will begin at 7:45 am. A registration desk will be located in the lobby of the ballroom (on the second floor of the Blackburn Center) to help students locate where they are supposed to be. The desk will open at 7:45 am to provide information to all conference participants and attendees. All students should be registered by 8:30 am.
The Poster Exhibition will be located in the East Ballroom – the room on the second floor nearest the reservoir. Students will be able to set up posters beginning at 7:45 a.m. Students are asked to bring their own thumb tacks, Velcro, and other needed support paraphernalia.
Students presenting posters must be available between the hours of 1:30 pm and 2:45 pm on the day of the Symposium to field questions and explain research. At this time the judges will review your projects. Poster presenters who are absent for the review session will forfeit points awarded for presentation skills. Please see Presentation Guidelines - Evaluation Factors for more information.
General conference attendees and other guests will be invited to view posters throughout the day.
Students giving oral presentations are expected to use PowerPoint. All rooms have been equipped to handle this requirement. Students do not need to bring their own equipment, such as laptops, etc. (If students wish to bring laptops, they may!)
Presentations will run 15 – 20 minutes (no longer than this) so that time will be left for audience questions and dialogue. A paper presented in this time frame, would be approximately 7 – 8 double spaced, typewritten pages. Sessions have been set up so that 3 presenters will speak during each session. (We have tried to arrange this as much as possible.) If you have any questions or concerns, please call 202-806-6700 or send email to mahmed@howard.edu.
All symposium participants will be invited to a special luncheon at 12:00 in the West Ballroom. You will receive lunch tickets at the time of registration. |
